Smile for the camera!

I recently had the opportunity to pose for some pregnancy pictures at a local studio. Several photographers captured the moment, and here are some of my favorite shots.

Beautiful Winter Day

Today was just too pretty to stay indoors. Sam and I spent much of the afternoon in the backyard. It felt so good being out in the bright sun! It actually took my eyes a while to "adjust" once we came back inside.
Tomorrow is supposed to be even warmer!

New and improved

I was recently asked to review Kroger.com, as they have made a lot of changes to the website. Well, I have to say that it is awesome! There are so many features to choose from: Gift ideas, Online circulars, Recipes, Advice, Coupons, etc. I especially loved the "Kids Korner" under the Healthy Living tab. It has some great articles!

You can refill prescriptions and order flowers and gift cards right from the website. They've even partnered with snapfish.com for digital photo processing. There's actually not much that the site doesn't have.

Check it out!

Little Angel

Sure he looks like that now, but this morning, Sam was a wild man! He apparently had some back-to-school anxiety and woke up at 3:30 AM wide awake! Then, when it came time to get ready for school he refused to get dressed. So I forcefully dressed him myself. Then, he screamed and kicked the back of my seat the whole time we were in the car. And, finally he had to be taken into his class by the school director because he wouldn't let go of my leg. It was crazy.

(I guess being out for 5 sick days wasn't a great idea.)

As soon as we got home from school (1PM), he grabbed a snack and a blanket so he could "watch a movie". He was asleep in 20 minutes.

More snow in Georgia?

We did get some more snow, and on Saturday morning when the kids could enjoy it! Sam was able to make many snow balls and a decent size snowman this time around. In fact, we all enjoyed running around in the cold, wet slush!
Sam was so excited to see that our snowman lasted through the night, but considering it got down to 17 degrees it's really no surprise.

Men at work!

Sam is helping Neil paint in the baby's room today. I can't wait to see the finished product because it already looks great!
(Apparently the sign is meant for me and the cats!)

Making the best of it!

Few things have affected me as much as Sam's face this morning when he looked out and realized the snow had melted away. It truly broke my heart when he said that he "just wanted to throw a snowball". So we decided to bundle up and head outside in search of any remaining snow. He was actually able to throw several snowballs and make a small snow man! (It was mainly ice by that point.)

I think he was satisfied in the end!

Snow falling on Kennesaw

Well, it's already gone, but last night it was really beautiful. I took these pics around 8PM.

What's that I see?

It's snow!! Finally a weather prediction that came true. The flakes started about 5PM (just in time for traffic) and they're still falling. We didn't expect any accumulation because it's not really cold enough, but I'm happy to see some sticking around.

Sam is soooo excited! This is the first snow that he can remember seeing.

Super Sick Boy

Well, so much for our Saturday plans. Sam felt terrible all day. His cough was still bad and he had no appetite. He also ran a fever much of the time that was very hard to break. By 8PM his temp was 103.4 and he was was shivering uncontrollably. He also started breathing really fast. We tried to get the temp down, but had little success so we decided to take him over to Scottish Rite Children's Hospital.

They immediately confirmed that his temp was too high and his oxygen intake was only 95. (That is the minimum required.) A chest x-ray was ordered, and they discovered that our little Sam has pneumonia. They gave him the first dose of his antibiotic in the hospital to check for an adverse reaction since he is allergic to amoxicillin.

We got home around 3:30AM and he was able to sleep comfortably for about 6 hours. His appetite is already back and we are continuing the medicine in hopes that it will clear out the infection. On rare occasions, more than one antibiotic must be used to successfully eliminate the fluid in the lungs.

Say a little prayer for our sweet boy. It is difficult to see him so inactive.

Cough, cough, sneeze...

Sam is a bit under the weather. He coughed much of the night and sneezed several times this morning, so he's planning to "take it easy" today. A sickness doesn't usually slow him down much, but he did want to bundle up in his playroom as soon as he came down stairs this morning. I'm sure he'll be running around 90mph before long, though!

It's all catching up with him...

Sam has had an amazing couple of weeks. Christmas, New Year's and his birthday are finally catching up with him! He gave up naps a long time ago, but he just fell asleep right in the middle of playing legos with his daddy!

Happy Birthday to Sam!

Sam celebrated his 4th birthday with friends and family at Chuck E. Cheese! They ran around, played games, ate pizza and cake, danced and more for FOUR HOURS. I was just watching and I was exhausted!

He was so excited to get so many wonderful gifts, including a new bike and a TON of Rescue Hero stuff.

Not a creature was stirring...

...not even a cat!! We had a peaceful New Year's Eve here at home with our fur-babies, Aja and Abby.
Happy 2008!!
