Tiny fragments...

It's been a tough month, but I bought myself something fun...
...the perfect little table for my sewing machine. It even has the cutest stamps on it...and best of all I only paid $3!!________________________
So we've had a bit of flooding here in Georgia. Many parts of our neighborhood were 4-6 feet under water on Monday. Thankfully most homes were spared, but our amenities area...trails, bridges and sports fields were pretty much ruined.
Here are two videos shot in here early Monday afternoon. The first is our baseball field. The second is a pretty playground/park area.

I chose this shot because it always makes me smile.

We have such great memories from our beach trip in June. Thankfully, many of those memories were caught on film. Like this one.
Luke and I went to our room most days around Noon so that he could nurse and take a nap. On this particular day, he decided to hide behind the curtains while I got his bed ready. I could hear him in there giggling and having such a fun time that, like any good mom, I grabbed my camera! When he emerged, I got him...complete with a sweet smile.

Busy as ever, but I want to say a special THANK YOU to Sara for making the changes to my header! We love you, Aja!!
-------------------------
In other cat news...Abby is weak and isn't up for chemo right now. She is still sweet as ever, but not eating and drinking as she should. If you believe in God, we would certainly appreciate a prayer. (This has all been tough on me, but it has been really tough on Sam, too. That was a surprise.)
---------------------------
Sam's fall soccer season started this past Saturday. He kicked it off with a GOAL for his team, the crocodiles!
------------------------------We've had a lot of rain here, for Georgia. My dear friend, Amy, knows how we love all animals, especially reptiles, so she stopped to help a turtle cross our road and brought him to Sam. (Box turtles are very common where we live, but it is illegal to keep them as pets.) We fed him cucumbers (home-grown!) and then set him free toward the creek in our backyard/neighborhood. It was such a fun surprise!
------------------------------And, in MORE Sam news...he was out of school for a couple days, but he did plenty of kindergarten work at home (he loves it) so his sweet teacher rewarded him in class!

--------------------------
I really love how comfortable LUKE is with his masculinity! He really, really loves anything with wheels. Really. But, of course, he has no problem putting a Barbie on board!

---------------------------
With all of the pet drama going on, it was SO nice to have a pleasant surprise. Our smallest fiddler crab molted, so George shed his entire exoskeleton, and is now a bit bigger. (It was really cool!) He also has a bit more "zing" to his personality, now. Gotta love that!
---------------------------
I had another great shopping experience. Here's what I got...

Yep. That's a pair of Rock & Republic jeans in pink! (My scrawny-bum size, too!) Plus, I got a Bonnie Baby dress for my BFF. The total? $ 6.85. (And, I saved like $200.) Thank you, Goodwill of Kennesaw!----------------------------
Bless you all! XOXO!!

This week's theme at iheartfaces.com is "contemplative". Well, my boys are both thinkers so I had several to choose from. Without a doubt, tho, this is one of my faves. (I just love the little tear.)
Luke is so loving. He always needs a hug when he gets hurt and when he gets in trouble. This photo was captured after the latter. I can't remember what he did, but once we scolded him, he primped up and cried. Neil immediately picked him up and then he just held tight for at least 5 minutes. It was so sweet that I ran and got my camera.
I even remember saying at the time, "It's like he's laying there thinking about what he did wrong."

I am really focusing on "seasons of change" right now to explain my life.

_______________________
My men had a nice Labor Day weekend. Sam and Neil participated in a Father-Son-Fishing-Derby. Sam (proudly) caught 7 fish! (He even won a prize.)

My extended family always has a picnic-style gathering for Labor Day. The boys loved the food and the tractor! I was unable to attend b/c of kitty care, but Neil took some great photos. Here they are with their cousin, Ashley...

I really love this time of year. Don't you?
The temp is cooler (especially in the mornings), the fair is coming in a couple weeks and sports are in full-swing!
I'm already itching to bring out my Halloween/harvest decorations.

And, finally...
As a lot of you know, our "little" cat, Abby, had to have emergency surgery last week. She is doing amazingly well now, but the pathology did show that it was cancerous so Chemo is in her near future.
The saddest part of all is that out-of-the-blue, our "big" cat, Aja, became sick. When we took her in on Saturday they found that she was in total renal failure. (COMPLETE SHOCK) We had to let her go b/c the prognosis was that she'd have to stay connected to IV fluids for the rest of her life. I raised her from a kitten and knew that wasn't a life for her.
She was only 9 years old, a (BEAUTIFUL) purebred Ragdoll and my loving friend. I will forever miss her.

Luke is all well now. Thank YOU so much for all of the prayers, emails and comments! To properly show his "wellness", he stuffed his cheeks with animal crackers and dolled-up his hair.
Hope you like it!

We made Jiffy Pop for the first time over the weekend, and the boys loved it! How wonderful is the smell of popcorn!?! Yum.

I'm all about bargains. If we were millionaires, I would still LOVE a good bargain. Lately, I've gotten a couple that really made me smile.
1st, I had some "birthday freebies" at the mall. I hate going to the mall, but I can stand anything if it's FREE. I got a cute pair of undies at Victoria's Secret and a bath scrub at Aveda. Plus the Aveda Lady gave me a couple cool samples. All for FREE!

2nd, I went back-to-school shopping for Sam. I actually got 16 items for him and Luke. The total? $61. Gotta love that. All of the items were name brand, too!

3rd, I got the necklace that I was wearing in last week's family photo for $1 at Express. (I had a FREE $15 in merchandise coupon that I received in the mail!)

Wordless Wednesday

I started "pinching-out" (removing new growth to prohibit excessive height) this Dahlia in early June, still it has grown to about 6 feet tall.
This was my first bloom and it was nearly 8" in diameter!

Ruby Tuesday!

I'm a newbie with Ruby Tuesday, but I've wanted to participate for a while. Seriously. Who doesn't love the color red???
And, here's my photo. Me with each of the boys at Chuck E. Cheese in August. Sam is much easier to "pose" with these days. LOL
