Timestamp: 2010-02-11 11:53:17 UTC

CONGRATULATIONS DysFUNctional Mom!!!

I had the pleasure of "meeting" Cisco at Stamped Under the Moon a couple months back. She makes amazing hand-stamped silver jewelry, and she designed a custom piece for a Christmas present.

She was so pleasant to deal with and understood exactly what I was after. Here is the result...

I call it "Gone too soon..." because it represents 2 lost pets and my two miscarriages. The cats names are stamped, as well as two winged hearts for our little Angel Babies. Each is accented with a birthstone. I absolutely LOVE it to pieces.

And here's the really fun part...

You could win a $25 gift certificate to spend with Cisco!

Just head over to her site and take a look around. Then, come back here to tell me how you'd spend the money. That's it!

I will draw a random winner on February 10th from the comments on this post.

Oh, and if you're a follower, you can have a 2nd entry, but you must leave me a second comment.

This makes me SO happy...

...both of my boys (6-years and almost 2) engrossed in Tom & Jerry.

**********

My surgery is only 1 week away!! I'm still excited.

**********

This was conference week for Sam, so he got out 2 hours early each day. I also had my conference on Monday and it was great. His teacher praised both his academic and social skills. She also said that he is very chivalrous, as he opens doors and pulls out chairs for the teachers.

Gotta love that boy.

**********

Picked up this super cute Easter basket for Luke. I've always had a thing for sock monkeys, and tho it's not the caliber of one of Kim's monkeys, I love it!

**********

We have another chance of snow tonight. It would be the perfect situation so I hope we get a bit.

Have a fantabulous last weekend of January 2010!

i heart faces

This week at iheartfaces.com, the theme is "texture".

I chose this photo from our recent trip to the mountains b/c I love the texture of the tree. I think it looks like Sam is leaning on elephant legs! Teeheehee. But that's just me.

Antonio Meets his Match -- DVD Review

We just reviewed the newest Hermie & Friends DVD, Antonio Meets his Match. We are fans of Hermie, not to mention Max Lucado, so I knew we would enjoy the movie.

Sam remembers Antonio as "the strong one" in the group so he was a great choice for this story, which centered around loving others unconditionally. (Luke 10:27) Antonio is faced with an annoying new neighbor that he tries to get rid of more than once. As in all of these movies, tho, God gives him a bit of advice and Antonio begins to see things differently.

I thought the story was wonderful, especially for children in the 4-8 age range. I love the way this movie showcases the struggle that we all face in loving others that are different, and I would definitely recommend its purchase.

We had a few BEAUTIFUL days here in Ga, and I now have Spring Fever! I picked up some lilies to help. (I shared the orange one with Yaya, too.)

I. Love. Lilies.

**********

I had another extraordinary bargain day. This time at Walmart. I left with $264 worth of boy toys for $19, including Star Wars, Power Rangers and G.I. Joe. All things that Sam LOVES! The Easter Bunny and Santa are set for 2010.

**********

I joined a Valentine swap this year via Audrey's Crafts and I'm already having fun getting my package together. I'm, of course, including some handmade note cards.

**********

We had such a great weekend...a date night, lunch with friends and a trip to Imagine It! in Atlanta with our boys. This weekend will be a bit quieter. That can be a good thing, too.

I might have a chance to catch up on a few projects!

**********

There were many events in the city to honor Dr. King, but I loved this new painting so much that I just wanted to pass it along. It's 125 feet long and the artist recruited volunteers (including kids!) to help. So awesome....

**********

Have a fantastic weekend!

We enjoyed our "snow" last week, but now I'm soooo over the cold. Where are the normal January temps for Georgia???

If you see them, send them my way!

***********

I'm finally having my gallbladder removed, after 3 years of trouble. I kept putting it off, but now Iam ECSTATIC to go gallbladder-less!! The amazing surgeon (or Gallbladder Guru, as I like to call him) will also repair my post-pregnancy hernia. Woohoo...it's a 2-for-1 deal!

Looking very forward to February 4th.

Sam and his friends enjoyed the party at CEC. Tons of tokens and tickets for everyone, plus a good night's sleep.

**********

Neil and I have a date night Saturday with some fun friends.

Hope you have something good planned, too!

Woohoo!!!!!!
i heart faces is celebrating their 1st birthday!

In honor of THAT, the theme this week is "Your BEST face!" The only catch is that the photo must be from the last 6 weeks. Ummm....okay.

So, (of course), this is the photo that I chose...

(Used as part of our 2009 Christmas card b/c it is soooo hard to get a decent pic of "Little Luke" these days. Darn mobility.)

It's a new year.

It's really cold in Georgia.

And, Sam just turned 6 years old!

**********

Sam had a great 6th birthday and his "real" party is still to come. He and his friends will celebrate with Chuck E. on Sunday afternoon.

We also made confetti cookies to share with his Kindergarten class on Wednesday. They were a hit...

**********

In other Sam news...

He was sent to his room at one point on Monday and while he was thinking about his mistake (ha ha ha), he came up with this little diddy:

"Sam. Sam. I'm the man.
Sam. Sam. I love ham."

It struck me as funny because
1.) he is not the man in this home, and 2.) he hates pretty-much all pork products

**********

We got a little snow yesterday. And, in honor of the pretty powder, we made these little snowman snacks, which the boys really enjoyed.

**********

I am finally taking down my Christmas decor. I've been putting it off, not only because it's a pretty big job, but because I just love it all so much. I will really miss the soft glow of colored lights early in the morning.

Stay warm this weekend!

Book Review: Greatest Stories of the Bible

I recently reviewed Greatest Stories of the Bible (NKJV).

"Stretching across both the Old and New Testaments, this heirloom edition provides readers with the tales of the Bible in an easy-to-navigate, storybook format."

I was impressed with the book as soon as I saw it because the stories are written in chronological order and most are only a couple pages in length. To me, that makes this book an excellent starting point for those new to the Bible, as well as a great reference tool for those of us familiar with the Bible. (Especially since each of the 250 selections has a very commonsense title.) And, though, much of the actual Bible is missing, I still believe this book is worth having on your shelf.

I prefer the NIV translation for my personal Bible, but I didn't mind the NKJV at all. I also believe that it's understandable enough that children could benefit from sharing in this book. The "short story" format is another bonus for children, too.

This book is beautiful inside and out, and I would totally recommend it for personal use and as a gift.
