i heart faces

There's no color at iheartfaces.com this week! The theme is "Dramatic B&W".

In Sam, I have a (very) dramatic/moody kid. He also takes 99% of all tasks very seriously, like for instance...egg hunting. For his 3rd Easter I planned on getting some great egg hunting photos. However, I did not factor in that he 1.) wouldn't carry his cute basket, and 2.) wouldn't smile...even once. I remember being so frustrated.

Funny how things turn out, tho, because this is still one of my all-time-faves...

Mommy's Idea

Crazy weather in Atlanta this week...

1. Sunny and 70 on Saturday

2. Rainy and windy on Sunday
3. Snow flurries on Monday

As I mentioned last Friday, we had Patches here visiting. We all had a really good time, especially since he joined us for soccer, Touch-a-Truck and dinner with friends. He headed out this week and we really miss him!

**********

And, if you're wondering why the tire that Patches is sitting in is painted pink... That company brought a pink front-end loader to Touch-a-Truck. They painted several of their construction vehicles pink this year, in honor of Breast Cancer awareness. Don't ya just love that???

I'll have more Touch-A-Truck photos up on Sunday, if you're interested!

Tonight is a date-night for us...and we can't wait.

Hope you get to have some fun, too!

This week's theme at iheartfaces.com is "angles". I love to tilt my camera, so this was right up my alley, and it was even a bit difficult to decide on just one capture. In the end, tho, this is what I chose...

BETTY WHITE will be on SNL May 8th! We love her.

**********

I just started two new books this week. Upstairs I'm reading The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Downstairs I'm reading Sundays at Tiffany's. I'm really enjoying both. In fact, I'll probably finish them both up this weekend.

**********

Tomorrow will be BIG for Luke. We're taking him to "Touch-A-Truck", downtown, so he can...well...touch a truck. Actually, he can touch A LOT of trucks. It's always a great event, and I can't wait to see his face when he spies the 20+ trucks waiting to be climbed on!

**********

We have a special visitor...Patches the Bear!

Patches visits with bloggers who've lost a pregnancy or child. He's a great little house-guest and next Friday I will have pictures to prove it.
If you'd like more info or a visit from Patches, click on his photo...

Do you like Old Navy, Gap and/or Banana Republic? I do! And, here's a great coupon for 30% off this weekend. You can use it as much as you'd like, too, at any or all stores.

The weather is warmer, we can go on strolls and my lilies are growing well. All of that means that it's officially allergy season. That's the one bad thing about Spring in GA. I guess having only one bad thing is pretty good, tho.

Hope you aren't sneezing too much!

I heart faces, again, and this week's theme is "bundled up". Living in GA means that we don't have an abundance of bundled-up-because-of-the-cold captures so I went with a bundled up new baby!

Here's Luke at about 24-hours old. Ahhh...the memories...

Etsy GIVEAWAY time!!

CONGRATULATIONS to #69! Rose is the winner!

I recently happened upon Sandpiper Shop, where Kathy does amazing stuff with glass beads! Seriously. Just look at this stunning bracelet...

IMG_2499

It's jam-packed with tons of colorful baubles, and though the brass adds to the unbeatable quality of this piece, it's very comfortable. (Yes. I just had to try it on!) And, here's the best part...
It could be YOURS!

That's right. I'm giving away this lovely bracelet to one lucky reader on March 24th.

All you have to do to enter is visit Kathy's shop, then come back here and leave a comment telling me what you think of her work. (You'll love it, by the way!) If you are a follower, leave a 2nd comment for an additional entry.

Are you excited??? I am.

We had beautiful GA weather...and then rain...and more rain...

My tan is fading!! :o)

Mommy's Idea

I received my book-swap package and couldn't be happier! I have such a varied taste with books, plus I am way behind since Luke's birth. This stack means so much...

Even tho she's sticking out her tongue, Molly is looking forward to some snuggled-up-reading!

That frag makes me think to ask...does anyone have
The Kindle? It looks so neat and I really like all-things Amazon.

Luke LOVES Playdough.

This week he was sitting at his little table playing "dough-dough", when all of a sudden he said, "Mama! Mama! Tritmas tree!!" When I peaked into the playroom, I discovered that he did indeed make a Christmas tree...

**********

Soccer starts up again tomorrow. Oh, the joy! Sam couldn't be more excited, especially after the fall season was (literally) washed out by the Kennesaw flood. He is still a "crocodile". (It's fun to say, "GOOOOO, Crocs!") He did, however, need new cleats. 6-year old boys have feet that never stop growing. Seriously.

**********

OH...HOW I LOVE JACK JOHNSON!!
This song is just so great...

*********

Luke had a GREAT birthday! (Thank you for all of the sweet comments and emails.) We spent pretty much the entire day celebrating and then he slept well. He also had to take an extra-early-and-long nap on Sunday. Gotta love that!

If you didn't see photos from the special day, click

Mary Josephine Ray, the New Hampshire woman who was certified as the oldest person living in the United States, has died at age 114 years, 294 days.

God bless Mary Josephine. (LOVE that name!)
Hope I can see just a fraction of all that she saw.

Hope your enjoying March 2010!

Kaleidoscope: A Review

I recently read Kaleidoscope by Patsy Clairmont.

Anyone familiar with Women of Faith knows that Patsy is a hoot, so it isn't surprising that this book is a very fun read. What did surprise me, tho, is how wonderful the book of Proverbs truly is, especially when related to everyday life. Patsy tackles 30 different Proverbs in her characteristic witty way, leaving the reader longing for 30 more.

My favorite part of the book has to be the questions at the end of each chapter. (That allows this book to be a great group study, by the way.) I always enjoy putting myself on the spot!

"The word kaleidoscope means beautiful shapes to look at and examine... Proverbs is like a four-mirrored kaleidoscope..."

If you like an easy-read full of scripture and humor, then you will love this book. If you need a bit more explanation of Proverbs, then you will love this book.

Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from Thomas Nelson Publishers as part of their BookSneeze.com book review bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.

We took Luke to our local fire station/police precinct as part of his birthday yesterday. (He LOVES fire trucks and motorcycles!) And, this station/precinct is loaded with cool vehicles, including those used for Haz Mat, bomb removal and SWAT exercises.

Here's a little photo tour with the boys...
