Book Review: God's Promises for Boys

I've had the privilege to review God's Promises for Boys with 6-year old Sam.  We've both thoroughly enjoyed this devotional written specifically for young boys.  And, I can see this being an excellent resource for us in the future.

Each topic is two pages and features both scripture and an example.  (The example even rhymes, which Sam really liked.)  This allowed us to discuss the topic easily, and come up with our own examples.

"You must do these things to enjoy life and have many happy days. You must not say evil things. You must not tell lies." Psalms 34:12-13

There is a girly version of this book, as well, so go pick one up!
You'll be happy you did.

Sam's Summer Shots

Sam is so creative and already loves photography.  Both taking the picture and being in the picture!) So, I suggested he take some photos for the blog.

He snapped all of these in our neighborhood, and enjoyed it so much that he asked if he could do it again.  That made me think.  And, I decided that I would make it a semi-regular post and call it Sam's Summer Shots.

What do you think of these captures by my amazing 6-year old???

Friday Fragments...Finally!

This week's Friday Frags are video-style.

Yep!  An ode to what I think is super cute or super cool right now.  Enjoy...

Sam had his "graduation" this week.  I can't believe he's off to 1st grade in August.  Here he is sharing about his favorite thing from Kindergarten...The Fun Run.

(Sorry about the sound.)

Simple Saturdays

Playing in the backyard, amongst this year's blooms.

Praying for rain b/c it's really, really humid.

Taking a break to watch VeggieTales.

Or, play a game of chess.

Was it a simple Saturday for you?

Captivating -- Book Review

I just read Captivating by John Eldredge...best known for Wild at Heart.  And, yes.  This is the "woman's version"!

Honestly, I did think the book was a bit fairy-tale'ish, but still, I could relate to many of the feelings described in the pages.  I also, believe that it does give a great over-all explanation of what a girl wants.  Seriously.  You just have to be willing to delve deeper while reading.  Warning:  This book can be rather emotional at times.

“Every woman was once a little girl. And every little girl holds in her heart her most precious dreams. She longs to be swept up into romance..."

And, there is no doubt men could learn from reading this book.  I mean, what gal doesn't want a bit of romance now and again?!?
