Friday night, we were invited to the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the brand new Special Needs ball field at one of our local parks. This was something that Neil and I supported from day 1, so it was so great to see the final product! The field is made especially for any Special Needs children, from wheelchair-bound to autistic. And, we even witnessed the inaugural game! Very cool.
Saturday, we planted our summer garden. I know it doesn't look like much but the veggies
Saturday night was the semi-annual Family Camp Out in our neighborhood. Neil and Sam always attend, and this year I took Luke down for a little while. It was amazing weather so there was a great turnout...around 25 families, and Sam had a ball. (I'm sure Neil enjoyed his beer-by-the-fire-with-friends, too.) Luke and I headed home before bedtime, but I'm thinking that next year would be a great time to introduce him to the air mattress!
And, finally...we have a new pet. Okay. It's really more like an experiment with fur.
I promised Sam (last year) that we would "keep" a caterpillar so he could see it change into a moth, and since we have cherry trees, the tent caterpillars are plentiful. All-in-all, he probably has a much better life in our aquarium b/c many neighbors consider his kind a pest right now.
We named him JJ (John Joseph was Sam's idea?!?). Check him out, pre-wings!

Great pictures!
So nice to meet you on my blog the other day! The ball field for children with special needs is awesome. I've followed its development, and it's exciting that it's now up and running! Isn't it nice to live in a community where all children are valued and cared for??? Thanks for posting the pics!
That campout is a great idea!
I can't wait to see how the garden progresses!
What a great ball field and for such a great group of people. I love it.
Your pictures are great and the boys are so cute! You are a good mom for doing the caterpillar thing. They give me the creeps, but I imagine Boyd will be into all kinds of creepy things one day! haha.
I loved all the pictures!
And, I love that you got to go to the ribbon-cutting. What a neat place for kids.
I really wish I would have made a garden. I'm planning on doing one next year for sure!
Oh my -- if you come back to my blog and look at my post on Monday, you may have second thoughts by keeping that caterpillar. lol You'll see what I'm talking about. You can click on my pics and get a closer look. ICK!
My husband helped build a Miracle League ball field just like the one you have there. It is precious watching the special needs kids enjoy it.
All of your pictures are great.
Have a blessed day!
Beth
