Ever see (nearly) 19,000 US Flags in one spot?

The Marietta National Cemetery is only a few miles from our home,
and in honor of Memorial Day, I decided to visit...with my camera...

The cemetery was established in 1866 and is now home to nearly 19,000
soldiers.  Today there were nearly 19,000 US Flags flying.

The land was donated by a local resident, Henry Cole.  His idea was
that by burying together those who had fallen together in battle, it
might help foster a kind of peace....

I don't know anything about Frank Gibson or Thomas Hankinson or
Phillip Childers, but I'm so thankful for their love of freedom!

My grandparents are buried in fort Leavenworth, and I had never seen so many flags in one cemetery. I was overwhelmed with a lot of emotion once I entered the cemetery. I didn't go this year, We went the the confederate cemetery this year.
Your Photos are beautiful!

My heart always aches when I pass by the flag lined cemeteries. I think too many people take for granted the sacrifices that were made for us.
