The Sweet Smell of Success

So, I've had this little lemon tree for several years...

I dearly love it.

But, it really never does much until October.  Then, it blooms and blooms.

The blooms smell very similar to a gardenia.  Yum.

In all, we've gotten about 10 lemons over the years.   Not great, but totally worth it.

I had no idea a lemon tree would have such pretty little flowers and a scent like gardenias would be heavenly.

I wish I could grow a lemon tree here, but it is impossible in the Colorado climate. Even one lemon would be a treat!

Reminds me of the lemon tree in my parents house. He was covered by a mango tree and, I guess, I didn't have enough sunlight to grow quick. Once he reached certain height (it took years), it started to produce tons of lemons.

It's obviously not all about the fruit but with those gorgeous blooms I'm surprised you have not had many more lemons. Perhaps the insects are not around in November.

Oh, I am just imagining the smell, ahhhhh. I love the smell of citrus trees and they attract so many bees. Lovely photos. One day I will own a lemon tree.

What a beautiful flower, I bet it's fab to have something that flowers so brightly in October to keep the colours there a little longer.

Gorgeous shots. Definitely worth it, even if the output is not that high.

There is something very pure and natural about white flowers. Simple and beautiful.
