Florida Fragments: 2010

Mommy's Idea

We had such an awesome week in Florida...and here are some highlights...

It was hot.  Surprised?

The heat index was over 110 degrees most days.  Of course, that meant we stayed at the pool a lot.  And, thankfully, our resort had quite the pool-assortment!  Sam loved the "lazy river" and Luke sported his goggles 99% of the time.

~~~~~~~~~~
We adore Downtown Disney and always plan to visit at least twice.  The restaurants are great (read: good food and kid-friendly) and there are great shops, like the Lego Store, Ghirardelli and the world's largest Disney store.  They also have a carousel and train for the kids.  It's safe to say that Downtown Disney is our most favoratist place in Orlando!
~~~~~~~~~~

The day we visited the Magic Kingdom it was a magical-kind-of-HOT.  We got there early and took advantage of short lines, then we headed back to the resort to cool off.  It ended up raining much of the afternoon, so we headed back over for the evening and the temps couldn't have been better!  We stayed until closing, 11PM.  The boys were troopers, but fell asleep as soon as they hit the bed.

~~~~~~~~~
We are members at a local Smithsonian-accredited museum, which means that we can get in free at nearly 300 other museums in the US.  Wouldn't you know there was one right in Orlando.  It's the Orlando Science Center and it's 100% about kids...on 4 floors!  We all had a great time, and look forward to visiting again.
A dear blog friend of mine, Lisa, lives in Orlando.  I was so looking forward to meeting her and she graciously invited us over for a little BBQ and a swim.  We had such a good time that Neil and I are still talking about it.  The boys loved her home, too, especially the sweet pups!
~~~~~~~~~

We headed over to Cocoa Beach one morning for some sandy fun and a little shopping at Ron Jon.  Unfortunately, Luke wasn't really into the sand and surf.  Sam, on the other hand, would've gladly stayed all day.  (We had to bribe him to leave!)  He did love seeing the boards at Ron Jon...surf and skate.  I love that stuff, too.

And, here's a wee collage of all the fun!  Enjoy...

It's so much fun to meet blog friends! How great you got to do that while on vacation.

How in the world did you get the "sand words" to have all of the displaced sand stay in the center??? I've made a dozen sand words and can't seem to figure that out.
