Friday Fragments

Mommy's Idea

Luke had his first dentist appointment this week and it went great!  (We have a wonderful pediatric dentist.)  He was so calm during the cleaning and exam, but there was one glitch...he didn't want to go home!  The receptionist said that it was the 1st time they ever had a patient cry upon leaving.

So.  Did you know that GA holds The Summer Redneck Games every year?  Come on.  You know you're jealous.  And, if you're not, you should be!  Where else can you "bob" for pigs feet, sit in the General Lee, light a beer-can-torch or toss a toilet seat...all while wearing your bikini...under the rebel flag???

(Photos from ajc.com.)

In all fairness, this event was started as a fundraiser and has raised a ton of money over the years.

Speaking of raising money...

Sam and I recently, donated some photos to an auction in Atlanta.  All 3 sold and helped out a local pet rescue.  Here are the 2 pieces I donated...

I'm still considering the Etsy shop!

Sam had VBS all this week. (Vacation Bible School)  He always loves it and I can see why, with the bouncies, water gun fights, silly songs and yummy snacks!  He's probably gonna be very bored next week.

We put our house on the market.  (Prayers are much appreciated!)  We don't need to move, that's for sure, but we'd really like to and we've seen a couple homes lately that are soooo "us".

Moving is such a pain, tho, that I already dread it a bit.

Have you heard of 33 Shades of Green?  It's my current-favorite-blog!  Alissa has the best projects/ideas around, and most of them are pretty darn simple, like her "decorative letters".  I love them so!  And, here's my version on the office wall, beneath some favorite photos...

They were as easy as her tutorial makes them out, and they only cost me $2.71 thanks to Hobby Lobby!

Love those decorated letters. I have been wanting to do that for my daughters room with her initials!

Great idea to donate pics for an auction. I bet you'd have a great etsy site. I have one and LOVE it! Each morning I check my email hoping for a sale. When I get one its so exhilarating.

Happy FF!

Etsy is a good place to start. It's not hard to set up a shop and it is not expensive. Your pictures are wonderful. :)

Dominic loved the dentist too. Not as much as Luke, I think, but with the right dentist it goes SO much better.

Here's hoping the GA weather is nice to us this weekend!

Those cat and dog pictures are amazing! You should definitely do an Etsy shop. :)

Can Luke give Princess Nagger some pointers about the dentist? She doesn't even like the word 'dentist'. ;)

Love the friday fragments idea. Good luck on the house thing. Never that fun of a process. I hadn't seen her letters at 33 shades. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Dina - Thank you so much for your kind comments about my blog - you made my day! I love how your letters turned out (and a bargain too!).

You definitely should open an Etsy shop - your photos are beautiful. How sweet of you to donate them to an auction!

Good luck with selling your house. Moving is a pain but so exciting too!

Happy weekend!

Luke crying not to leave the dentist has to be a first. But then again, I guess that shows how good the dentist is with kids.

I never heard of the Redneck Games, but it sure looks and sounds like fun. I had to wonder about the toilet seat throwing until I saw the picture. It's a gigantic horseshoe.

I'm betting there's some bible involved in between all those other activities.

Best of luck on the move. I've done it several times and it's no fun.

I love Hobby Lobby!

My kids loved the dentist, too! Of course, they inherited their dad's saliva and have like NO cavities, unlike me, who had more teeth with fillings than without!

Good luck with the house. I would really like to put ours up, too--I'm sick of the huge mortgage and would love a little house.

The Redneck Summer Games--This sounds really fun. I like that they are embracing the stereotype :)

Have a great weekend!

It's great that the dentist trip went well. Did they take pics? I thought that was pretty hilarious, I have pictures of the kids' first visits as part of their file at the dentist office.

That Redneck summer games sounds hilarious!

The way you photograph, I think an Etsy shop would be a good move on your part.

Are you moving from the neighborhood? I was hoping we could meet the next time we come to GA to visit my brother and his family.

The letters are cool. If you like that idea, check out Sarah Mincy's blog. Can't remember the URL, but you'll find it if you google it.

That is so cute crying to leave a dentist. We normally hear horror stories, the dentist must be really special with kids.

Love photos of the animals. And moving house sounds so exciting.

Every time I see a post about a dentist, I think I really should go . . . but then, I don't.

Our VBS is this week--my husband is helping with the 3rd graders and I am helping with the 4th graders. We have a ton of kindergarteners, like 100! Overall, we usually get 700-800 kids! We look forward to it!

How lucky are you to have a child that cries when he has to leave the dentist!! Let's hope it stays that way :)

I love the photo's! Good luck with the selling of the house I will say a few prayers..I must be crazy but I love moving..I'm not going anywhere soon so I'm doing some remodeling very slowly; life and emergencies just keep getting in the way.
I hate the dentist and am so overdue!

Dina, my first time by...I found you through He and Me blog.

Wish I could see those redneck games in person. Sounds like a hoot!

We are considering moving ourselves, out of state. We have our eye on Tennessee. But, moving from California is a HUGE deal when you're used to dry heat and In n' Out Burgers!

Love your blog!
