Fragmented Freewrite #2

It's been a great week here in the A-T-L!

OrdinaryAndAwesome.com is the Chronicles of My Ordinary and Awesome Life, Family, and Thoughts. OrdinaryAndAwesome.com is the Mostly Wordless Wednesday headquarters as well as the home to several original awards and memes.

Friday Fragments?

Luke is SO into hats these days. Seriously. He puts something on his head (not always a real hat) non-stop! Thankfully, he looks really cute in hats, so he can keep the habit forever.

Sam had such an awesome time at VBS. He really enjoyed it last year, but this year he's starting to "get it" so I think it was way better. He spent a lot of time with his friends from school, but he also made some new friends. Gotta love that! Plus, he was all about the offering each day. (Neil and I are way into tithing our church, so that means a lot to us.)

I made that super yummy Bisquick pot-pie that we love. If you've never made it, please do. It's so easy and cheap. In fact, I gift it all the time b/c I can make 3 from a store-bought rotisserie chicken! (I also use our garden veggies and some frozen veggies.)

If you don't have the recipe, email me!

Our garden has been so much FUN this year. (Probably because our drought situation has eased a bit in Georgia.) We love have things to "pick" each day!

The bounty has included strawberries, peppers, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers and squash. Plus, we're still waiting on some Spanish peanuts and we're going to plant cauliflower and garlic this fall.

Yum...and nearly FREE!

I'm registering Sam for Kindergarten on Tuesday. It's evoking mixed emotions in me. I am so, unbelievably excited for him b/c I know he will thrive. I also can't believe he is old enough to go to Kindergarten and ride the bus and get a lunch tray...

Of course, I'm already involved with the PTA so that I can be near him a little bit, but please pray for me on August 10th!

We did something really cool this summer. Okay. We did a lot of really cool things this summer, but this was a blog thing. Sam participated in the "Super Summer Swap". He and Blake are exchanging packages and we just sent Blake's box off to Ohio! I think my favorite part was the envelope scrapbook that we made. It turned out so cute and it allowed us to include a lot of photos. (I'll post some pics in a couple weeks.)

Get on board next year!

I will have a new giveaway coming up shortly. It's for an amazing Etsy site called Sweet Designs By Maryum. If you have a little one OR want a great gift, please check back on Tuesday!

Enjoy your weekend!

How cute is little Luke with that hat on!?

Yummy Bisquick pot-pie!!

Scott and I are moving and our backyard in the new house in about a half an acre. We cannot WAIT to plan fresh veggies and fruits.

I will cry like a baby, I am sure, when our children (future children) go to Kindergarten. I sounds bittersweet.

That Bisquick pot pie looks SUPER yummy! I make chicken pot pie and just lay one of those rolled pie crust on top and it is so yummy and easy! I am registering my oldest for Kindergarten on Wednesday! We are ready for school...but a little worried too!

Here's the recipe for the Bisquick Pot Pie...

1 c. cooked chicken, bit size
1 1/2 c. frozen or fresh veggies, thawed if frozen
10 oz. can of "Cream of..." soup (I like celery or onion best.)
1 c. Bisquick baking mix
1/2 c. milk
1 egg

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Mix chicken, veggies and soup together. Pour mixture into ungreased 9-inch pie pan.

Mix remaining ingredients and pour over chicken mixture. (I sometimes add cheese to the topping, too.)

Bake for about 30 minutes, until top is golden.

How CUTE is Luke in a hat?! :)

YUMMY pot pie - thanks for posting the recipe! :)

Our garden got ravaged this year by the neighbor's skunk squatters and the wild rabbits...so next year we're going to raise our garden beds and put more things around to protect them. At least my cherry trees and grape vines are thriving, and I've been making sure the birds get plenty of bird seed so they'll leave the fruit alone - they've gotten some of the fruit, but it looks like they've been kind this year so far... ;) Oh, sorry, I just made that whole garden comment all about me...when in fact I'm in awe of your fabulous garden! ;)

Good luck with the Kindergarten registration...it's not going to hit you hard until the first day of school when you wave 'bye to him as he leaves on the bus...that's when it hit me really hard this past year. Princess Nagger only had 1/2 day Kindergarten - so I'm actually looking forward to her being in school all day this year...far cry from last year! ;)

Happy FF! :)

The picture of that pot pie made my mouth water and I have biscuits in the oven right now so I almost felt like I was smelling it.

Yummy potpie!! My mom makes one just like that. I wish we had fresh veggies to eat, but we are a long way out from that yet. Planting in fall is such a foreign concept to me, living here in Wisconsin :)

Thanks for playing FF this week! :)

Your little boy looks cute in his hat! And your garden looks great too. The weeds have taken over ours because I haven't been able to do much with it. Have a wonderful weekend!

I tried to grow tomatoes on my balcony this year and things didn't exactly go as planned, so I'm salivating looking at yours!

He's lookin' mighty cute sporting his hat.

Girl, the pot pie LOOKS awesome! And I am TOTALLY impressed with the crops from your garden! How long have you had a garden? We are thinking of putting one in in the fall. Any pointers?

That recipe sounds so yummy and I'd love it if you would share it with me.

The package exchange sounds like a blast too, such a great idea!

And I am so jealous of your garden. That's fabulous! Nothing grows where I live, but one of these days, I am going to have one. :)
