Fun Friday Fragments

Mommy's Idea

As you might know, Luke is my little Artiste.  He draws and colors every single day.
On Wednesday, he came running into the office to show me his latest creation, all-the-while saying "dog" and "frog".
He was so excited!

So.  Do you see the "dog" and "frog"?  If not, look at this...

The dog (Dachshund?) is facing down.  The frog is facing up.

Summer is pretty much over for us.  (The free time.  Not the heat!)  Sam goes back to school in less than a week and we're all eager to meet his new teacher.  He did so well in Kindergarten, so I sure am hoping that he's given a similar teacher.  (Thank you in advance, Jesus!)

We've bought most of our supplies and spent the week doing some last-minute fun things...bowling, swimming, playing at Chuck E Cheese.  I feel like we're all ready for a bit of change, and I look forward to spending more one-on-one time with Luke, again.  Still.  I know I'll tear up as the bus pulls away from our home on the 5th.

A while back, I mentioned recycling/refinishing/re-purposing some furniture.  I've finished 3 pieces so far, but this is my absolute favorite...I love the way it turned out in the distressed-black finish, plus it was FREE!  I use it in our office b/c the shallow drawers are perfect for stamps, ribbons, scrapping supplies, etc.

BEFORE

AFTER

ZANY BRAINY FACT:  On Monday the metro-Atlanta area saw over 900 lightning strikes in 15 minutes!

(If I was a brave gal, I'd have some really cool photos.  Oh, well.  Not.  Brave.)

Wow, the 5th seems really early to be starting school! It feels like summer just started.

Love the frog and dog, artwork is so much more fun now that Charlie knows what he's drawing and can explain things to us. What an interesting milestone!

Have a great weekend!

Luke is so adorable with his drawing! Yes, I can see the dog and frog. Took me a moment to see the frog (smile).

I am praying for Sam as he returns to school. I KNOW the LORD has His hands on him and all the children.

What a beautiful dresser! Had I known you had that talent I may have asked you to do a few things here while you were visiting (SMILE).

Love your red walls!!!

I'm about to turn my home office into apple green and chocolate!! What do you think?

I love you dear friend. I'm praying...

Just stopping by to wish you a happy and blessed weekend. That Luke is absolutely beautiful and I saw the dog and the frog. School already; yuk! My grand kids do not start until after labor day.
I was awful when each of my kids went to first grade, especially the youngest. I cried the entire day. I am just as bad with my grand kids. (my kids would say I am much worse).

I can't believe y'all go back so early. Dominic doesn't start until August 23. Then again, Rockdale County started yesterday. Dang. We still have no clue what to get him for school!

Have a great weekend!

I can't believe you start school so early in August!! We still have a month... but I guess that means you started summer a month earlier than us ~ right ?! ;) Hope his teacher is a blessing in his life!

WOW on the dresser! I have tried to spruce up old furniture... it is NOT easy! Well done! ;)

900 lightning strikes - that's crazy!

You have a little artist - they look exactly like the dog and frog.

Two thumbs up for the dresser redo!

August 5th is WAY TOO EARLY to go back to school!

I have a couple of artists at my house, too. One of them is guilty of wall grafitti sometimes -- at age 13! I have to remind myself of Randy Pausch's "The Last Lecture."

Beautiful job on the chest of drawers.
